We're not doing pinholes for either brothers, we were dithering over them for the wedding party but went with them anyway.
Just noticed my ticker, 29 days. DAYS!!!!! That makes me feel a bit queasy haha
When is everyone contacting suppliers for last confirmations and have you had your menu tasting yet? We haven't heard from the Hotel about it but they know what they're doing I'm sure
Hope springs eternal

Thanks

Weve decided to get the for groom, best man, and the das. And a corsage for him mum if she wants one. Keep it nice and simple. The idea of trying to convince my brothers to wear one is horifying so Ill skip it!

Hi girls, haven't been on WOL in ages.

Since the last time I was here I still haven't lost any weight, in fact I put it on, am disgusted but what can I do only be as good as I can and try and plan a little more. Real life kinda took over this summer!

I bought another wedding dress - it's basically a copy of Kate Middletons, fits like a glove and I adore it. Can actually visualize myself in it and I couldn't with the last one. It was really getting me down that I wasn't comfortable in the other one & there were so much alterations to be done. With this one I just put it on and it was perfect.

H2B's Dad is still hanging in there - he went into hospital at the end of May and has survived Pneumonia, Emphysema, Arthritis, Asthma Attacks, MRSA, a double foot infection, bed sores and numerous infections at the age of 76, I don't know how he did it. He is in a Nursing Home now so finally we are back on track with 'real life' and no daily hospital treks - that place really knocks the soul out of everyone.

Our parish priest has been truly fantastic - he called in to us one night and brought every bit of paperwork with him, sat down over a cup of tea (that my H2B gave him in a Father Ted mug, I couldn't stop giggling) and did both our pre-nup enquiries in a few minutes. He also said we were not to pay for the wedding ceremony because of all that we do around the parish, which was really decent of him considering H2B would be a lot more active in the Parish than I would.

We got the wine from that cheap seller on DoneDeal that was mentioned here ages back - was a bit dubious but have drank several bottles (oops) and I'm still alive, so will top up what I used with the Tesco wine sale this week.

At the minute I'm gathering addresses, which is a f*king nightmare when everyone has a nickname, mispronounced name (a man I've been calling Mr. Groarke is Mr. Croke, etc) and H2B doesn't know anyone's wife or girlfriend's name. Again the Priest was a great help, he knew everyones name, and also the phone book, and the Postman! The postman went through a list of 10 people with me and gave me their addresses, I gave him a tenner for a drink.

I'm going to get personalized wine labels from eBay, I'm still dithering over centrepieces, I have to buy my foundation and perfume (Lancome Le Vie Est Belle, amazing) and that's about it!

Sorry for the essay xxx

Don't think of this. Went to see two florists few months ago and when they were putting their quotes together, they only included groom and best men and two fathers. Not brothers or partners.

.... Latest update
Bought sparling wine for toast and have made a start on the table names.
4 days to Hen.......which was supposed to be a surprise but one of my friends named the city in a text so now i have to spend the next week pretending to my sister and BM that i'm still in the dark !!!

Hmmmm. Table plans. Have bought a photo frame that holds twelve photos. Going to put one table per photo space. Now I'm worrying it's just going to look insane.

4 weeks today. Time is absolutely flying.

Sounds like a good idea. And if you don't have 12 tables you can just put a photo or something in the spare one.

Our hotel said our max per table is 10 (which seems a little low to me) but that means that we could have 20 tables. So have bought a large picture frame. Mam painted it cream and going to get one of those big boards in Easons and just stick on the tables once we have them sorted.

Candlequeen, sounds like you've had a rough time of it! glad to hear things are back on track. I had a similar enough few months (well with reality biting!) and i think we've come out the other side too! In a way i think it was good. As you can get caught up in the whole wedding affair thing. And its nice to be grounded and realise...the most important thing is that you're getting married!

Yeah I was the same with addresses, but my ma was great and out came her book with about 50 relations addresses in it!

The personlised wine labels sound great! I've not yet even thought about centrepieces. I will have this discussion with the wedding organizer this Sunday about them...and hopefully sort it out then!

Good luck with the rest of your planning!

Got a list of addresses from boyfriends brother who got married two years ago. He had it saved as a PDF. impressively organised I thought.

Flowers arranged yesterday. I think that's everything but mass booklets printing and beauty stuff done.

Hello there Oct brides!
I'm so excited the time is absolutely flying! Can't believe where the last 18months have gone :ooh

Hope you're all enjoying your wedding build up? I've had such a horrible time with the guest list and my dad but the worst was a cousin who was invited just him and then when he didnt RSVP i emailed him to which he replied "yip, ok if i bring a friend". So i spoke about it with H2B and because my parents said not to send invite to him plus guest we said his "friend" could come to the evening no problem. He went crying to his mammy about this who rang my dad who then got my mam to ring me because this friend was a girlfriend! The man is in his forties for crying out loud! O:| Hes now not coming because we stood our ground. H2B doesnt really like him anyway so hes not upset, im not either really but its the kind of thing that makes me look like the villain even though it was his childishness that brought this outcome. Sorry for the rant, ive been so upset by it all and i needed a vent :)

I read on another thread that weddings bring out the best and worst of people and they're not wrong!

On a good note though i have my first dress fitting tomorrow and ive lost 2 stone since i first got my dress so im a little nervous about it! I've almost forgotten what it looks like as well!

What's been your highlight so far?

Going to jump in here too. 20 days to my wedding. Eeeek!
Well, actually I'm kind of feeling quite calm about it at the moment, I think give it a week and the panic of last minute organisation will set in!

Hello Ladies,

Less than three weeks to go - I just can't believe it. Ticker seems to have gone from 3 months to 3 weeks in a flash.

All going well here I think. Sat down yesterday and made a massive list of what is still to be done - it's HUGE, but it feels much better to have written it all down so I know what needs to be done rather than just have loads of things floating around in my head.

Predictable guest list shenanigans on my side too (does anyone manage to avoid them??). Before the invites went out I had the usual debates with my parents - "You have to invite Mrs. X. She won't come but we were were invited to all her children's weddings so we couldn't leave her out". Then two weeks later, casually drops into conversation "Mrs. X is coming and she's bringing her granddaughter" O:| Now her granddaughter is a friend of my sisters who would be invited to the evening anyway, and we're fairly flexible on numbers - but honestly!!!
Read on here about numbering RSVPs so you know who they come from but I was naive/arrogant enough to think "Ah no, our guests wouldn't be that stupid". Lol! So now we have one RSVP from "we". God knows, we may never work out who it's from - post marked Athlone, but then doesn't half the post in Ireland go through Athlone!

Had my second and definitely last hen party on Friday night. Had a great time but am delighted now to have two quiet weeks planned before we head home for the wedding (Except of course a quick trip to Dublin to watch Mayo bring home Sam - wedding or no wedding this just has to be done - apparently if it's a draw the replay will be on our wedding day - I wouldn't put it past my Dad to suggest that we move the wedding!). Can't believe that tomorrow two weeks we'll be packing the car and heading home to get married - so exciting and scary at the same time. :o)ll

Time to get back to the mass booklet me thinks.....

Oh - highlights so far - for me, I think it has to be getting engaged and the first few weeks of excitement after that. It was a really lovely time before normal life took over and we had to start trying to fit planning a wedding around working 50 hours a week, going to the gym etc etc etc.

Hope all is going well for the rest of you October Brides......soon enough we'll be writing our wedding reports :o)ll :o)ll :o)ll

Hello ladies!
So excited. Although I am totally bricking it that I have forgotten something major. I definitely need a checklist!
Have my hen his weekend which I'm looking forward to - was v funny, H2B wouldn't answer any of the s€x related questions in the Mr & Mrs Quiz... He was like "i hope you don't be talking to all your friends about our s€x life.... O:| " COME ON!!! Anyway will be a laugh.
Massive drama with my sister causing hassle about wanting to bring her kids to the evening part - we have bent over backwards already to let them come to the church, drinks reception etc, made the little one a flowergirl even though i dont want one and she was still kicking off a bit about it... Anyway appears to be resolved now bar some nasty comment which I have no doubt will pop up on the day!
Got a really nice dress for the day before or day after - my lovely helpful mother tells me I'm poured into it....! ANYWAY!!!
So anyway 16 days to go!!!!!!! Yahooo!! x

Hey Canary Red,

Hope you have fun on the hen. I had mine last weekend. Was brillient. They kept everything as a surprise until the last minute. They said that i was too much of a control freak :).
So they brought me to waterford and on the saturday went to Tramore for a little bit of pottery painting (which was funnier than it sounds) and then some lazer shooting and then to the strand for a bit of a picnic. Everything went really well and had such a good weekend. And as for the mr and mrs questions, they stayed clear of too rude ones. I think the worst ones were
If bride had to dress up as power ranger, deep sea diver or farmhand ??? Ans Farmhand (he had a picture of daisy duke in his head i think)
What is your favourite underwear of the bride . Ans - Anything that matches (he he, thats rare enough.
But they were very funny. Did them during dinner so was great laugh during the courses.

We sat down to do the final to do list last night but postponed it until tomorrow night.... Couldn't face it. On the plus side we have 45 % of the rsvps back so far and 10 days left. But typical, most of them are from OH side. My side are seriously lagging behind :).

Taking some time this weekend for the two of us, so we are heading away for the night. last real break before the big day. And to celebrate our engagement anniversary. Can't wait.

Good luck with that to do list girls......

its all so exciting for everyone isnt it,
nearly 5 weeks left to go for ourselves and i think im pretty much sorted, thanks to WOL and all their ideas on here,
been a bit of a rollercoaster of a year, OH mam passed away in june so still alot of sadness around the day and what going to happen, we were doing our prayers of the faithful last night and i mentioned it about doing one for his mam which he definately wanted but then got upset, and to make things worse my gran has been in hospital for 4 weeks nearly and things arent looking well for her, so we've to play it by here on that front

as for RSVP's and supportive families, arghhhhhh, ive ive two uncles on my mams side not going becoz i didnt invite their kids, two of which are 5 and 8 and i said from the get go no children gooing aprt from the flowergirls who are OH nieces and the other girl who is 21 wouldnt know me if i walked by her in the street, then i have an aunt on my dads side same situ didnt invite her daughther who when in the same pub would turn her nose other way, so its madness, really cant please everyone, so we decided that we didnt care anymore those who want to be there will be

have my first dress fitting on sat, along with girls and shopping for my MOB outfit and then out sat night for joint local hen stag do , o and off to help mayo bring home the sam on sunday, so it really is all go
