Printable Wedding Invitation templates

Printable Wedding Invitation templates

Hi Wollies,

Just wondering for those of you that have DIYed you invitations, did you make up your own template or purchase one?

I've found what I want an Etsy. See below.
Not sure if I could do if myself though. I'm pretty handy with word. What program have people done theirs in and any tips?

Or if you purchased one, where did you buy from?

The one i'm looking at is $60 which isn't bad but I'm still looking for options.

I'm planning on buying the Pocketfolds & Envelopes form cardsandpockets.com.
They seem to be the cheapest, I'm open to correction on this though.
My OH works for a company that supply and print card so will get the inserts done with them at discount :-)

Would you try and do it yourself on word? You could download free fonts. I'm sure I've seen similar ones to what's on the invite (which I love by the way). You can set the paper size in word to the size of the insert and take out the margins and insert a border. I'm sure you can download borders for free too.

If it was me I'd definitely try doing it myself first before paying $60 for the template.

I just sorted our save the dates. I bought the digital file from a seller on etsy. She changed around her own design to suit the wording i wanted and I love it - cost 12 US Dollars. Then I priced Reads printing but it actually worked out cheaper to get it done on vistaprint. Ordered 100 save the dates with envelopes and afew of the fancy extras that are optional and print cost & delivery came to just under 30 euro. So thats 100 save the dates with envelopes for less then 40euro and I just know they will look really professional. Im definitely doing the same when the time comes to send invites :) there are some great design on etsy, some are quite expensive. ie wedding invite digital files will be more pricey then save the dates as there is more info on the invites and also some sellers sell a package of a digital file including the invites, rsvp and map or whatever else u want, all ready to be printed off. I was thinking of doing my own initially but I definitely saved myself a huge headache in the end. At 38c a save the date, you cant go wrong. OH joked that would he would have liked to do them, but think that would have caused us both even more of a headache :yelrotflmaosmilie:

I did up my own, use Microsoft Word or Publisher or PowerPoint. I didn't even have Microsoft word, so I downloaded OpenOffice!

I downloaded fonts for free from dafont.com

I put a pic up on the DIY thread

We did our Save the Dates from a free template we found on Wedding Chicks. Changed in a bit in Paint and then sent them off to Vistaprint - wasn't planning on doing them originally but for 16e why not!

We're buying an online template for our Invitations then. I've done some co-ordinating inserts then on PowerPoint. I find Word really hard to work with - would probably be fine for a text-only invite like the one you've shown, but manipulating pictures and that is much easier on PowerPoint!

Oh and +1 for Dafont - easy to use, every type of font imaginable and all free!

Thanks for all the help Girls.
I've been looking at doing them up on word but to be honest for $60 I actually think it's ok value. We are away for the next 3 weekends so I really don't want to spend every night on it.

if you're a virgin when it comes to laying out things then 60 euro is not bad when you think of all the time it will save you , all the printing mistakes and trials etc . For 60 euro though it should be exactly what you want . I did my own escort cards and table plan but I did some editing/publishing in a previous life and it still was fiddly and took a while and I used microsoft publisher . You and move things around alot easier on powerpoint than word .

That's funny....I wonder were they the same ones?? I was considering something like your invite at one stage as well so we clearly have very similar taste in stationary!!

I'd at least give it a quick go on PowerPoint and see if it's doable before buying the file. You may decide it's not worth the hassle but it would be so lovely to say you'd done it yourself. You seem to be getting married around the same time as me and I'm convinced I've oodles of time so you can definitely afford some trial and error!

Awh different ones! But I do like yours a lot, I'd say it worked really well as an email. This was the one we went for, sorry I can't uploadd it as it's a bitmap!

I removed the 'we smell the same' tag in paint as I thought it was a little strange!

It's such a great website for the freebies, we're getting our full invitations made but will probably do our afters from there as well!
