Prosecco/sparkling wine recommendations

Posted in OF as well because it gets more traffic....
We're on the market for a nice prosecco or sparkling wine for drinks reception. I like one of the tesco cava range but I'm not sure about having the tesco label on display....maybe I'm being ridiculous though?! I'd like the keep it to around 8 -10 euro a bottle....any ideas welcome!! Thanks ladies!

I know my friend got her prosecco for her wedding in Dunnes for around 6 a bottle and because she bought in bulk they gave her a discount. I will find out what one she got.

If you're not keen on having the Tesco label on display you'll find it tough enough to get anything cheaper than a tenner. In my experience the off licenses tend to price them at about 15 euro or so. One of my favourites is the Jacob's Creek. Its about 14/15 but you can often get it cheaper if Tesco is doing a deal. I dont think Tesco/ Dunnes do bulk buy discounts unless its one of their scheduled promotions IYKWIM

We got our champagne from O'Brien's wines - it was on special offer of €24.99 a bottle from 29.99 and then because we bought 100 bottles we got another 15% off (after ringing them up to ask). If you join the O'Brien's site you can keep an eye out for special offers. They will always do 10% off once you're ordering 12 or more bottles and you can get free delivery. Actually they have a prosecco on offer now for €9.00 per bottle that I've bought before and it's lovely. Very light and drinkable - La Pieve Spago Frizzante - it's on the website. There's a very nice Cava in Supervalu reduced to half price at the moment, so you will pay €9. It's called Barcino.

Supervalu (Mount merrion) has a gorgeous Prosecco last week for either 6 or 6.99. Add a drop of creme de cassis to the champagne glass beore adding the Prosecco and you have a gorgeous Kir Royale - cant go wrong there.

Check online for purchasing direct by the case from wine distributors here in Ireland and I am sure you will find some good deals too.

There are loads of online wine shops like simplywines.ie or curiouswines.ie that you can view prices online aswell - keep an eye out for special offers!

Alternatively, you might get better value up north?

I'll definately go this route, I've done a few wine courses & this Prosecco is a winner with everyone hands down. I would choose it above champagne any day for large numbers. You won't go wrong, but go into one of the OBriens shop & ask them can you taste it, they usually do tastings on Saturdays so go early in the day & persuade them to open one for you to try.
