Aherlow House Hotel Feb 2012
Hi all,
i just wanted to send on my experiences of having our wedding in Aherlow House hotel. We got married on 25th Feb last, and i have to say we couldnt have asked for a better day weather wise as well as everything else. I am from bansha & had decided on Aherlow pretty quickly, due to scenery & location as well as price. i have always liked the hotel & when i brought himself he loved it straight away. Carol was our wedding coordinator & she was great all the way through, we had no issues, anything we may have had was dealt with efficiently & always with a friendly word. i couldnt say enough about the staff we met there, all great people. The food is gorgeous, we had a tasting menu & it was just as good on teh day for 140+ people as it was for 8 of us. The ballroom has been done up, we were the first wedding which was great, it looks great, really fresh & sparkly!! there are more renovations going on which will only improve the venue. I used local suppliers, Catriona Jackman (Jackman photography) was our photographer, great packages & exactly what we wanted, very relaxed way about her & her husband, almost forgot we were there but from what i have seen of what they took so far, it looks great! cant wait to see the rest.Deirdre Morrissey( facebook page fairy godmother weddings) looked after the flowers/wedding day decor including chair covers & sashes & fairy lights, again i would highly recommend her - so many people commented on the flowers & overall look of the room, she has great prices, knows the area/hotel & again nothing is too much to ask for!! im sure no matter what i wanted she would have tried to find it!! Kay McGonigle baked the cake & also supplied a chocolate fountain, both of which were a hit!! she also delivered the cake & set it up which was great, we didn't have to worry about it! i can send on details if necessary, The band was pat marnane, chain reaction, i know they were great because everyone danced until the last song of the DJ so thats always a good sign & i love the siege of ennis in the middle, it confused the life out of the meath crowd!!! but its always a good laugh! Animato from cork did our church music, just flute & cello, no singer, again we asked for a specific song for the walk down the aisle & they accomodated us without any issue, plenty of people were wondering where i found them after as the church was small so the sound was beautiful on the day! so overall it was a fantastic day due to hassle free service from all these suppliers! the only complaint i had was that it was over too soon so i think thats a sign of a great day had by all!! let me know if anyone wants further information on anything mentioned above & i would be pleased to help where i can!
Re: Aherlow House Hotel Feb 2012
Delighted to hear you had a great day, we're getting married in Aherlow in June so also delighted to hear the hotel got the thumbs up!
Can I ask a bit more about the hotel function room decor? Did you organise extra bits & pieces more than the hotel provides as standard? I think chair covers & sashes, plus candelabras/flower vases, mirrored centrepieces and tea lights are included as standard for us but I wonder if it needs more??? What did you do? Thanks a mill :-)
Re: Aherlow House Hotel Feb 2012
hi mrsm2012 were getting married there in august, did u say ur chair covers & sashes are included in package? would be great if they are i havnt been in contact with hotel n a while
Re: Aherlow House Hotel Feb 2012
Hi Holly, yes they are included in our deal, although I'm not sure if that offer was ongoing or just at the time we booked the hotel (given that the place was a building site on the day we visited). Best of luck in August, I'll post feedback here from our June wedding if you like?
Re: Aherlow House Hotel Feb 2012
ya id love that mrsm cant wait to hear how you find it well il def be asking about chair covers as we booked two years ago and were told we would have to pay seperately. do u mind me askin did u go with the all inc package and how many guests roughly just too see if we are around the same!!!! u havnt long left now
Re: Aherlow House Hotel Feb 2012
You know that Ballykisteen is their sister hotel so you should look for the same deals they do...they throw in chair covers and sashes for free. The manager of Ballykisteen has taken over running Atherlow and he is lovely. I would also mention to them what is being done about renovations there I was there about 4 weeks ago and did not see any mondernising of the upstairs bar since I was at weddings there in the 90's. There were bits of the bar pelmet taken down and I know another Wollie posted on here that there were works been done back in February when she was getting married so do check with the hotel they should provide you with what you want. After all you are spending alot o money there, hope everything goes well.
