Cringey pet names

Re: Cringey pet names

My OH's nickname is Beaker (he's a ginger scientist), and I probably use that or Sweetie as often as I use his name.

He wouldn't dare use a nickname for me, only two friends are allowed get away with any variation of my name- Spawn and Dawneen- mostly because they make me laugh every time I hear them.

As for baba/ snookums/ etc, they make my skin crawl even hearing them in a normal voice.

We have nicknames for each other, but would never say them in public.

I hate the Mummy/Daddy, what really freaks me out, is when a couple call each other that.....and don't have any children!!! Thank God I've heard it once or twice...... but the baby voice.....that's just creepy!

Jees I saw this thread title but never clicked into it. I was so sure it was in Furry Friends- thought it was going to be all about a dog called Pat or a cat called Mary :innocent:

Anyway, we might stretch to hon or honey in front of others but that would really be only in our house cos it comes kinda naturally there. If we were out and about we'd just say our real names to each other.

Cringe....we use baba. It sounds ridiculous typing it but it stuck back when we were 17/18 :D Not in a baby voice and not in public though. Although Ihave caught myself once or twice in public using it without thinking.

We're kinda like Bazinga.

H only uses my name if he's angry with me. I said this to him recently and he's started using it in normal conversation. I use his name all the time. In lieu of my name me uses things like 'baby' or (more likely) 'wife'. I quite like it. He uses 'wife' in public.

I actually can't cope with the babe or babes or any of those pet names. They make me cringe and i'd say if i called DH babe he'd give me a slap, we're not into that at all. The pet names in a baby voice would send me over the edge altogether. We're not into PDA's either and are about as romantic as a wet fish, so i suppose thats why we don't do pet names or baby voices. Each to their own though!
