do you put vests on ur LO's all year round?

Postby Augustmum » Thu May 10, 2022 7:22 pm

Just wondering as I've had ds who's 9mths in vests since day one except for when we went abroad last month. So do you always keep them on in this Irish weather we have?!

And also if you do use vests all the time which ones for summer? The sleeveless ones or with the little cap sleeve on them?

Lately I find ds head and hair feel a little warmer than usual (probably doesn't help that he's a mop of hair!) especially on milder days. But I'm so worried of taking the vest off incase he catches a cold!

Yeah, I do. DS is 16 months now and he's always got one on him. long sleeved in winter mostly, sometimes the short sleeved ones, if he's got something heavy over it, and then the sleeveless ones now coming into the summer.

Ditto - Always have a vest on DS - Long sleeved in Autumn, Winter, Early Spring - Summer months I move to short sleeved. Never go with sleeveless really.

My lad is 7 years old and I still give him a vest to put on. He gets very chesty sometimes and it's still very cold at times - I don't mind so much at home but his school t-shirt is very thin and he's often come home without his jumper on at the first hint of sunshine, only to wake up croaking the next day.

Vests all the way. (The sleeveless ones under clothes, I use the cap ones as pajama tops in warmer weather).

no, not in summer when its hot. our house is like a sauna and room can go up to 27/28 degrees. also garden is a sun trap. so generally in good weather no vest and then add cardigan for going out and about,

i go by the rule of one extra layer than i have for babies, dd1 can tell me now

Most of the time, but not in hot weather as I think they are very tight and must drive them crazy!! Also our house upstairs really retains the heat in hot weather so I def don't put a vest on under jammies in our rare spells of warm weather. I hate being over warm so I just try to see how they would feel.

Any advice on where to buy vests that don`t come up so high. DD`s vests are often visible under her clothes, sticking out under the neckline. It doesnt help that she always want long sleeved vests because she uses the sleeve as a comfort thing over her hand when she sucks her thumb. I don`t know how we`ll manage if summer ever arrives!
