Carton House Venue
Hi all,
I'm new here and this is my first post. Getting married in Autumn 2013/Early 2014 and i'm currently looking at venues. I'm looking at Carton House in Maynooth and also The Village at Lyons. Anyone who has booked either venue recently or has got married there either could they please PM me as I'd like to ask them some questions. Also anyone who has any opinions on either venue could you post them in the thread. I'm getting it very hard to decide between both venues and would like some guidance. All help much appreciated.
Re: Carton House Venue
We viewed the village at Lyons and it was fabulous!! Really unique venue. Ultimately we thought it would be too small for our numbers (90) in the ceremony room, as we are holding a civil ceremony at the venue as well as the reception. What are your numbers? Bear in mind the room where you have the meal is split level if your numbers are over 100 or so...
We enquired with carton house but didn't bother going to see it as they seemed really fussy about weddings in the old house, they imposed all sorts of conditions, such as not allowed to have proper band (too much noise), min numbers etc and also they usually hold more than one wedding there per day so you are sharing the grounds etc. Hope that helps. Good luck.
Re: Carton House Venue
We viewed both and decided against both. Both had an attitude that we would be lucky to have our day there and both were unwilling to do much negotiation. I'll bullet point the rest of reasons for ease
Carton house -seemed like they had no interest in our business -would have another wedding on the same day if booked -too many rules, felt like we were teenagers being given conditions by our parents for a house party we were lucky to get as opposed to a venue doing all they can for our big day -couldn't have a real band Village at lyons -very little accommodation for guests which was expensive -for our numbers we would have had to use the mezz which we didn't like at all -even when being shown around they seemed like they couldn't care less whether we booked or not -slow to respond to queries Groomzilla!
Re: Carton House Venue
We had carton house on our last three venues but I totally agree with what's been said staff are very rude and unhelpful have an air of authority about them. Lots of rules, wouldn't budge an ounce on corkage packages etc. in the end I told them it wasn't for us. And I wouldn't even mind there not even a busy hotel for weddings we wanted to go view a wedding there in February and they said they had no weddings in the main room till pady's day?
