Help! We live in UK, getting married in Ireland

Help! We live in UK, getting married in Ireland

Postby nuttybride » Thu Apr 26, 2022 11:56 am

Hey ladies

I am Irish and my H2B is English and we both live in England.
We are getting married in October next year, civil cermoney and I have just read about having to live in the district you intend to marry etc. for 7/15 days?

This wont be possible really for us before the wedding. Are they strict on this?

Any help would be great, starting to panic now!

Have never heard of this nuttybride. We also are getting married in Ireland, living in England. I am planning on going over for about a week before but H2B will only be going a day before because work won't give him longer than 2 and a half weeks off and we're using most of it for the honeymoon.

Where did you see that?

Ha ha, thought that was a new one on me... phew! You might already know this but your H2B will need an Apostille stamp if he has a UK birth cert. The registrar won't accept it without. I've really only found the paperwork to be a hassle when planning from the UK... just lots of trips home to meet suppliers etc!! Good luck.

Sent off? Sorry, shattered today, not sure if I follow you. Do you mean you've already sent off for the Apostille stamp?

No, I say sent off but I just wasn't sure if you meant that you've done it or if you were asking about doing it. I can't really think of any other issues with getting married at home and living here. Good luck.

ah Im a stupid worrier that's all.

We have the venue booked, band/dj booked, photographer, caricaturist and I even have my dress already. I saw it and fell in love with it so just though, hey, why not?!

You must be sooo excited! I am loving the planning but I wish I could just stop thinking about it for a few weeks at a time! lol

I am loving it too but it is hard to think of anything else. Like I keep coming on here when I should be working! :innocent:

I tried to be as organised as possible to so that I wouldn't get stressed and so that I would have time to DIY stuff that I wanted to personalise. But somehow things still creep up on you...

I did only go dress shopping mid- Feb though! Didn't try any at all until then! But found one in the first shop!

You have a bit of a wait but it will fly, esp when you get to the New Year! Enjoy it.
