John Lowe is probably best known for his popular books on personal finance ‘The Money Doctor’, ‘50 Ways to Wealth’,‘The Money Doctor Finance Annuals 2006’, ‘2007’, ‘2008’& ‘2009’- the middle two editions went to the number one bestseller position in Ireland (paperback non-fiction section) Contracts with his publishers Gill & Macmillan have been signed for the next 3 years’ publication of the Annual. The Finance Annual2010 was published on 18th December 2009, nine days after the Budget and is endorsed by Gay Byrne, Jim Power and Bill Cullen.

His approach as The Money Doctor is simple, objective and effective. What he most enjoys about his role as a personal finance writer is that he is free to tell rather than sell the public what he really thinks and tell it in an easy to understand style - “in plain English” as they say. John is a frequent interviewee and commentator on our national airwaves ( RTE’s Pat Kenny, Mooney, The Business, plus Newstalk, Today FM, 4FM, 98FM, East Coast radio, Q102fm, Dublin’s Country Mix, a variety of rural stations - LMFM - et al) and amongst our print media and television (Late Late Show March 2006, plus others on RTE - Prime Time, Afternoon Show - and TV3, TVAM, Morning Show and Midday). John is also a member of the National Union of Journalists.

With over 27 years experience in the banking sector - he is a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers, a member of the Institute of Directors ( just completed the Chartered Director programme in IMI Sandyford through IOD) and a member of the Life Insurance Association - and a genuine interest in helping people make their money work for them, John is one of Ireland’s most respected personal finance gurus. John is also managing director and founder since 1999 of Money Doctor, the trading name of Providence Finance Services Limited, a fully authorised financial services company with an office in Stillorgan Co Dublin staffed with equally experienced financial advisers mainly drawn from the banking arena.

John is invited to speak on personal finance to companies and organisations from all sectors to help them make the most of their money. Recently he completed a series of seminars to auctioneering executives with economist Jim Power, and also to Statestreet Bank (6) and Google companies. The majority of his leisure time is spent with his family (three children), while in his spare time he plays golf ( handicap of 12 out of Foxrock Golf Club ), music ( has his own 6 piece band ) and relaxes when he can !
