Weight loss and motivation tips and some weekly weigh ins?

Weight loss and motivation tips and some weekly weigh ins?

Postby sarah1979 » Fri May 11, 2022 7:24 am

Ive just posted this on the health and fitness forum but I thought that it may get more traffic here. I have everything done for my wedding apart from weight loss and toning and I need serious help and motivation tips!

I'm 72 kg today and want to loose 12kg over the next 4 months. I'm awful cos I love food and am so tired after work that I'm not exercising as much now as I used to. I REALLY need to tone my arms too.

Have you come across any good tips?

For the weight loss I've signed upto my fitness pal, try not to eat after 8 and have just started Pilates (I can't move today after only 1 class so hopefully hats a sign it's working) I've also banned myself from going into the local centra for anything (Oh not too happy with this one cos he has to do all the messages now

Great idea for a thread.
I Just started back at Weight Watchers last night... hadnt been in a year and was already down 8lbs since i was last there, so its a good start i suppose..

I got to the gym 3 days a week and now have kicked back into WW, so hoping to shift another 10lb before the wedding in December.

Best of luck to us all O-O

I joined My Fitness Pal too, I find great support there and I love filling in the food & exercise diaries.

Sticking to that, plus a 45-minute walk 4 times a week, 2 litres of water a day, NO BOOZE, plus exercise bike for 20 mins twice a week (if I feel like it) and Jillian Michaels 30-Day-Shred, 7lbs gone in the last 3weeks (not 2 as I put down before, oops - 3wks today actually, but only started shredding a week ago) :o)ll

I know I'd have more lost if I wasn't doing the shred but the effect it is having on my fitness is fantastic, I'm not out of breath walking anymore and I can do the bike without dripping sweat from my eyelids. It does slow down weightloss but it builds and tones muscle.

Only another..... 26lbs to my goal weight... O:| Still, one day at a time!

Best of luck girls xx

Great idea, can I join?!

Ticker is scaring the bejaysis out of me,the days are disappearing and my belly is not.
Have to seriously cop on with the food and weekend booze. My dress is slinky and totally unforgiving and it still doesnt seem like enough motivation!

I'm a fan of the 30 day shred too- level 2 is killer, have only done it once so far but i need to get way more regular about it. Reading Run fat b*tch Run as well and have gone for a bit of puffing and panting around the neighbourhood but need to stick to routine with that as well.

Sarah1979 stick with Pilates, its the only thing i do regularly! I go every monday and have done since Feb and it has seriously toned my ass and tummy- hopefully the arms will follow next. Think i'll try do 3 classes a week after this block of sessions runs out and then cardio on days in between and then i'll be running around the shower looking for water i'll be so skinny :)

Agree with the water, homemade soups are great too and super filling. In Summer months when i'm craving ice pops, i always have a bowl of green grapes in the freezer and grab them, they are delicious! Really juicy and i prefer them to normal grapes now.

2 and a half months to try and drop about a stone and a half hopefully. Weekends are sabotaging me bigtime though, my hen next weekend so thats a write off and going to Neven Maguires restaurant tonight for 9 courses of delicious.
I'll need to buy a new dress!

I lost 3stone 2lbs in 6 months for my sisters wedding 7 years ago as I was her bridesmaid. I had gone to WW and walked about 3-4 times a week for 45 mins at a time. Then I put it all up and more in the last 7 years again :( :( So I'm back to WW since Tuesday night, and I'm getting married in 15 months, so I'm so confident I will be able to lose it all again. I'm back to the gym 3/4 times a week, mostly on the treadmill for cardio, and using the rowing machine for weight loss, and then some strength training as well. I'm lucky I have a gym at work so I just go straight there after I finish for the day. My gym instructor told me not to go more than 4 times a week, and interval training is the best for weight loss. I must say, I love the WW diet, because it doesn't feel like a diet, I'm just eating normally, just less portions. I'll update on my first weigh in next week :)

Oh dear god indeed I have, and a good lump on top of that if I listened to WW. I started this weight-loss craic last June and weighed... wait for it.... 16 stone 4lbs. :eek

Today is my weigh-in day at home, I was 13 stone 12 this morning. I don't want to drop 26lbs before the wedding, just enough to get back down to a comfortable size 12-14 and actually get the damn dress to zip up, because it ain't closing over my back boobs at the minute!!

30 Day shred is great as another poster said, and don't worry Level 2 is the worst one. level 3 is more enjoyable, even if it is harder.

I have started going to kettlebell classes, and find that it has really toned up my arms very quickly and it works in some cardio and stuff too.

Definitely saw results faster with 30 day Shred but my thighs are becoming close to pure muscle, as are my arms from the kettlebells.

Jillian Michaels has a 6 week 6 pack video which I found good (even though I stopped it after level 1 because I started the kettlebells instead). It really increases your flexibility too( which will be great for honeymoon :o)ll )

Myfitnesspal app is so good for holding you accountable for what you eat, plus you then get credit for the workouts you do so you can eat that bit more- YAY!

Thanks for posting this sarah1979, I was going to do the same thread so glad to see you beat me to it!

I have only SIX WEEKS!!! remaining until my wedding day and am so diappointed with myself. I'm 5 ft 4 and 9 stone 10 pounds. I'm all curves on top. I'm eating low carb most of the time but find I am reaching for a glass of red wine 3 nights a week due to stress from work and all the planning. Only going to the gym 3 times a week.

I would love to lose 10 pounds in the next 6 weeks and seriously tone arms. Going to order 30 day shred now!! Please keep the tips coming girls!

Oh and also I am so tempted to have a protein shake for my lunch because I heard that is what the Tony Ferguson diet from boots essentially is. Anyone done this?

What's the 30 day shred and where do I get it??

I have a tip....for every lb you loose get a paper clip and attach them all together so you can really visualize it another tip when u go shopping put a lb of butter in your basket for every lb u have lost again so you can visualize it. Might work??

It's a DVD, Jillian Michaels 30-Day Shred. You can get it on Amazon, Littlewoods - any of the sites that sell DVDs should have it. It's basically 3 levels of workout - you do level 1 for 10 days, level 2 for 10, then level 3 for 10. You will be cursing her by the end of it, but it's only 20 minutes a day and it does make a difference!

Edit: You need some handweights to do the workouts. I got cheap ones on Littlewoods but a lot of places have them, Lifestyle Sports or that should have small ones.

Laughing at the thoughts of the pound of butter, I never even thought of that, I think in mince because it's the only thing I've ever asked for a pound of :o0
