Small colourless spots all over forehead..

Small colourless spots all over forehead..

Postby kellcarr » Mon May 14, 2022 1:06 pm

Hi Girls,
Wondering if anyone can help..
I've exactly a month to my wedding, and my previously great skin (seriously, nearly no complaints with it), has gone to the absolute dogs over the past month O:|
I've all these tiny spots, not red or anything, all over my forehead. I had changed to a Vichy moisturiser before the happened, and it's probably a bit greasy for my skin.
I've tried exfoliating the heck out of my face, googling it, cleansing more regularly, all to no avail :o(
I asked for help in my chemist, and the lady recommended La Roche Posay's cicaplast, she said it'd clear it up in a few weeks. Well, a few weeks have been & gone, and there's a slight improvement, and I'm not even sure that that nots wishful thinking :duh:
Anybody have any ideas? I know my diet hasn't been great, I'm trying to rectify that for the last month, and I'm off alcohol since last week as I *know* that won't help - I'm also taking vitamin B complex now. The only other thing that I can think that may have triggered it, is I started sun beds once a week about a month ago.. I'd never been on a sun bed in my life, just hate, hate, hate, fake tan - and I wanted a base colour for the day itself. You know, take the worst of the blue/white tinge off my skin.
Any advice gratefully accepted :lvs
Thanks,
Kellcarr

it's kind of hard to say, without seeing it. if it happened after you started using the vichy moisturiser, then maybe it could be linked to that? what moisturiser were you using before that - could you swap back?
i wouldn't overdo it on the exfoliation either as that might have the opposite effect & sensitise your skin, just limit it to once or twice a week, depending on what you're using.
would you consider going for a facial & see what the beauty therapist says?

Does it itch? Might be a reaction to the moisturiser or the sunbed (I break out in hives from the sun, it's not uncommon and develops out of nowhere). Try asking the chemist for a hydrocortisone ointment.

I have these around my chin - I'm gonna go into my local beautican during the week to see if she can help me - I'll let you know what she says and recommends

Hi Girls,

Thanks for the replies. I was using the Olay total care before then, but it ran out, so I thought (against my better judgement), I'll use that Vichy I got for a valentines present. In fairness (don't sue me, Vichy), it could be the sunbeds too. I've been very careful not to wear any moisturiser/perfume before going on the sunbeds.
I'm definitely going to leave the exfoliating for the rest of the week, just in case it's making it worse.
They don't itch, or have any colour, they're only visible cause they're raised, and give an awful texture to my face - it doesn't matter what way I turn, the light still shows them up?
This is what they look like - http://www.specktra.net/t/179721/how-to-clear-small-spots-on-my-forehead
I have my make up trial this Friday, so I'm going to ask my make up artist (who should be a bit of an expert in pre wedding breakouts, in fairness), before I throw good money after bad, and waste more time going with whatever the saleswoman in the local chemists is pushing!

I'd be really interested in hearing how you get on, Annie!
Having a good old look there today, in fairness, the spots have lessened on my forehead, but are now on face too, particularly the side of my nose, and on my chin under the corners of my mouth.
Why now :o(
Thanks for the help girls!

My beautican gave me samples of Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant and Dermalogica Medi Bac Overnight clearing gel

She's booked me into the sunbeds for my first session on Friday - she didn't mention it could make them worse!!

They look and sound like milia to me kellycarr. It's wen keratin gets caught in the outer layer of your skin. The bad news there hard to get rid of. The are sometimes caused by cream and products on the skin. You can exfoliate them gently I would defo recommend daily microfoliant from dermalogica it's not a harsh exfoliater. If there not budging try micro dermabasion (a few weeks before big day) or in extreme cases a chemical peel. Hath :)

They sound like milia. I have a lot of them, they're from using heavy moisturisers and other creams (such as suncream). I asked my dermatologist about removing them before, she said she could do microdermabrasion.

Hey!

Have u come off the pill or any medication or started any medication? I have come off the pill twice for a month and both times I got exactly what u are describing! I went back on the pill, stopped wearing foundation (just a light powder instead) and drank loads of water and they went away. I have also noticed this on pregnant people before so there is a chance it could be some sort of hormonal imbalance?!

Maybe go see your doctor or a dermatologist and get some heavy duty stuff to get rid of it! You still have plenty of time to get your normal skin back!! :custum59

I've had this before and just by pure fluke I decided to do a deep pore cleansing face mask as a girly evening treat and it got rid of them! Worth a try and really cheap, it was only one of those individual ones you can buy in the supermarket

Will you let me know how you get on with those samples? Would be interested in investing in Demalogica, if it'd solve the problem! Quick google puts just those two products at nearly €100 :eek

The only problem with microdermabrasion, is I'll have to do it now.. 27 days to go..
Does anyone know of a reputable place to have this done? I don't want to risk a bad job so near to the wedding.. :weep

Nope! Not on the pill, though TMI, just got my first period in months & months (always been irregular), so I'm assuming hormones/stress/burning the candle at both ends have combined to make a perfect storm that results in woeful skin :duh:

My next port of call is defo one of those masks..

In fairness, in the last week there has been a noticeable improvement in my skin, especially on the forehead - there's now centimetre size patches with no spots on that there wasn't before. Seriously, rubbing my forehead was like reading braille :o(
All I've done in the last week is - try to not touch my forehead (rubbing my hands on it can't help), stay off alcohol, plenty of early nights, and the la roche posay effaclear face wash and cicaplast (sparingly! it's quite greasy).
Touch wood it continues to clear up..
Thanks!

I am the same and swear by Vichy, cleanser foundation have always used their products. . . . but bought different moisturiser the last time as chemist didn't have normal one was it Aqualia Thermal by any chance? My skin has broken out in same way your describing. Think it's to heavy for a daily one great after a night of drinking though or straight out of shower when skin is particularly dry but too much otherwise!

Could be exam stress either though!

They are just the individual ones that you can buy in tear-open packs, as long as it's a deep cleansing, pore cleansing one you should be ok? Just had a look upstairs and they're made by a company called montagne jeunesse, maybe google images so you can see the packaging? I usually use a deep cleansing mud one but really like most of them tbh, and I've never had a reaction either.

Best of luck xxx

Hi Dumdumdidum2013 (love your user name!)
No, it wasn't the thermal range - though i have some of their products (3 in 1 cleanser, toner & water spray), and haven't had any issues with those.. I reckon the culprit was this guy http://www.expresschemist.co.uk/Vichy-Essentielles-Facial-Cream-50ml.html
I don't have dry skin, I have an oily T zone, and normal elsewhere. It was just plain laziness, and also cause the moisturiser smelled nice :-8
I had my hair & make up trial yesterday - Audrey of Upstyle Junkie - I can't recommend her enough! She's so nice, professional, relaxing & the hair and make up I asked for was exactly what she gave me (easier requested than done!!), I really, really loved the look! Anyway, she asked had I changed any washing powder, toiletries etc., and I had started using Vanish oxy hygiene in the last month - it's very heavily fragranced & H2B brought up that he was getting itchy on his torso. Audrey said that could have prompted the strange spots on my forehead.
The spots have really lessened in the last few days again, so I'm going to stick with the celaplast, & drop the vanish in wash powder!
Cheers
