Re: Run, TTCer, Run: Weightloss/Fitness thread

Hi girls lost another pound this week thank god, due to a few long walks/ runs. I'm really trying to do the same route but bring down my time.
Diet ok but need to cut down on alcohol, hadn't had a drink in weeks and then had a few two nights, makes me lazy. Thanks for all the info on your diet luckyladee, I might start following that myself

Your doing great Happie Out, well done!

Well got out fo ra 5k run last night, almost killed me but i did it. Going ok on my eating, I've really cut back on snacking/chocolate which is good. Its so easy to get into bad habits & hard to give them up!

No worries. It's a tough one and means eating ends up being very repetitive but I'm doing ok with it.
Breakfast has been either porridge or 2 eggs scrambled without any butter etc.
Then for lunch I've been having salads. I'm not into salad leaves particularly so my salads are mostly just raw vegetables chopped up - green peppers, mange tout, sugar snap peas, carrots, cucumber and then some fresh coriander chopped into it and some pine nuts or sunflower seeds. Sometimes I'm having some plain chicken or tuna with it too.
Then for dinner its been fish with a three bean salad, chicken and veg stir fry in just plain soy sauce (without rice or noodles), miso or lentil soup (homemade) or a small steak with salad.

Running and/or walking EVERY day is almost starting to become habit now after 2 weeks - did almost 7k last night which I was glad of. I do really find that using the runkeeper app and the myfitnesspal app really help me to stick to things. Would love a few extra friends through either of them if anybody's up for it.

Keep with it ladies - we'll all be getting closer to our BFP's everyday by doing this.
I've dieted before - I've exercised before - I've given up before.
This time I will NOT be giving up.

Luckyladee - thats one tough diet, your doing really well. Between that & all that excercise its going to fall off you before your next appointment.

Been eating well so far this week but the weekend will be a real challenge. I've already told my husband not to buy me an egg but all the socialising will be a killer!

Hey ladies, couldnt find the thread before now- but joining in too!
You are all doing so well :o)ll
Have about 1 to 1.5 stones to lose BMI just 26 at moment but have massive spare tyre which is not good. Have comfort ate all winter, and prior to that lost weight for the wedding with high protein low cardb diets.....so following the old WW plan now with healthy balance diet and reducing sugar intake. Doing it about 10 days so far and all going well so far......no easter eggs for me tho this year

Was running in Jan and Feb but Accupuncture therapist advised me not to run for now, and stick to walking every day instead so walking a min 30 mins every day.........longer on days off

Diet is really simple
Porridge in morning
Salad /sandwich with wholegrain breads
Dinner chicken/fish with veg and small amount potatos/rice/pasta
snacks on fruit/mangetout/full fat natural yoghurt
square of organic choc- if i have to !!
no coffee...just tea , and filtered water for drinks

sticking to it so far so hopefully pounds will start to go....best of luck to everyone :wv
2012 is going to be the year for our baby bump, please God xx

Hi girls,

Can I join you?

Here is my story... We have been TTC for nearly 2 years now. We found out in January that our only option is for ICSI. We live in the north so the waiting list is currently at 12 months. I was told at my appointment in January that I would have to lose weight. I have been trying really hard since then and have lost some weight but i need to lose a lot more. Here is my problem... I rang the hospital today to see when my next appointment was and thay told me it will be on the 16th May... exactly 6 weeks today. In order to get put on the list for ICSI i need to lose 24lbs in 6 weeks!!! :o( :o( :o(

Is this even possible? It works out at 4lbs a week! :weep :weep :weep :weep
I really don't want to miss my chance at getting put on that list!! If I don't lose the weight I will have to wait another 4 months for an appointment to get put on the list! :weep

Of course you can join us lullabelle.
And yes - you can do it!!! That's the only way to look at it. My deadline was 8 weeks for about 20lbs so not a million miles away - and I'll tell you something - a more determined woman you'll never meet!
Now, it's gonna be bloody hard - but if you're up for it - this is the place to be.....we're all in the same boat....I'm doing it for clomid, you're doing it for ICSI......we're all doing it for a baby - and just imagine how much it will be worth it :lvs
If there's any way we can help - just say the word.

On an aside ladies, is a bad sign that I just googled 'how many calories in a cadburys easter egg' :eek :eek :eek

Hey for those of you that need to lose weight really fast , I would look at the Southbeach diet- you eat any protein and greens /veg/ salads, and low fat yoghurt all day everyday for about 10-days and you will def lose a stone. You can eat as much of these foods as you would like to and you should never be hungry ( you may be bored tho!!) I used to aslo make no-carb soups and have lots of that .

Its tough to start with but if you stick with it you will lose weight and fast. Your body basically starts burning your fat stores for energy when you withold carbs , but this will not work if you do not cut out all carbs and refinesd foods/sugars. You then go to a maintenance programme, adding in fruit and wholegrain carbs, and maybe a glass of red wine.
You can buy a bookon the diet and also there is a lot of info on the net.

I lost a lot of weight with this in the past but wasnt going to do it this time as it is a bit acidic when you are TTC , (as per Zita West book) but now that we are taking a break from TTC for 1st month with Napro think will do it do kickstart my weightloss

I know this is a quikfix but if you were doing this to make sure you can start treatment to a deadline I feel it might work for you. :wv

Lullabelle - 5 pounds is amazing, well done! :o)ll

how did you all manage over easter?Im not a massive choclate fiend so that wasnt too bad but still ate & drank too much. Have started running again though so my first focus is to try & get my fitness back as well as cutting down my portions a bit. If that isnt having the desired effect I'll focus on my diet more.

Lullabelle - well done, 5lbs is excellent.

I'm like you Next, focussing on the exercise and hoping for a loss. I've lost about 1/2lbs so far but this week i'm trying to make healthy choices as I had a terrible (food and drink wise) but great craic Easter wkend! If I could loose 1/2lbs a week I'd be delighted.

C25k is going well. I'm able to run for 22 mins now!

Keep up the good work ladies xxx

Hey everyone, feel like I'm coming to confession here to get rid of my sins. I was sooooo bold this easter am now two pounds heavier than when this thread started!!

Main reason I haven't been exercising is that my exercise clothes are too tight and look awful :o( so am off to Dunnes now to buy some new stuff. So that's that excuse out of the way. Didn't bring my "Run FB Run" book on hols but am starting to read it again. Am going to ask work for a locker to keep my running stuff in so I can go out at lunchtime as I never go out when I get home as it's too late. But now I will be an excuse free zone (we have showers in work which is really handy).

I haven't been asked to lose weight at clinic but I know I'm at the higher end of my BMI now so just need to cop myself on and lose the weight. The total I need to lose is 19lbs. Today is day 1 - I want to lose the first 10lbs by the May Bank Holiday which is three and a half weeks away. So I need to be a lean, mean, fat burning machine. I'm hoping that being on the Eltroxin will help too.

Right, off to buy some not-too-unattractive-but-it-will-have-to-be-a-size-14 gear! Reading through how you have all been doing is really, really inspirational so please do keep it up as I need the motivation!

Lullabelle and Luckylaydee, you guys are doing fab. Keep it going - such a great motivating tool!!

Well done Lullabelle - great achievement, and lsl - who cares what size they are now - once you go out and use them you'll be back into the smaller gear in no time at all!!!

I'm here to update. I'm down 7lbs so far - really chuffed. Goes to show how tough the old PCOS makes it beacause that has taken 3 and half weeks. And I've literally done minimum 4km EVERY day of those as well as being super strict (even over Easter) with the diet.

Even though 7lbs doesn't sound like much to some people, I'm really proud of myself and it means I'm 25% of the way there.
